My interest in fine arts dated back to the 1970s. Started with learning western drawing with artist Chung-Kong Chan (陳松江), followed by practicing Western and Chinese painting, gem stone carving, and ceramics with various teachers and artists. During the years from mid-1970s to mid-1980s, my major involvement was “Shiwan Ceramics” (石灣陶瓷), practicing with “Shiwan Ceramics" artist, Ping-Chung Ho (何秉聰). At which time my works were mainly  figurines, the theme of which related to many well-known Chinese religious stories and fairy tales.  Since then, figurative sculpturing became my favorite topic. Recent years, I searched for alternative medium, in addition to ceramics, to express my works. From 2006 to 2010, I practiced Glass Arts (major in Casting) through participation in several full-time workshops in Urban Glass and The Studio of Corning Museum of Glass in New York, United States, and with well-known glass artist Miriam Di Fiore in Mornico Losana, Italy . Came back to Hong Kong in 2010, I completed the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) programme (Major in Ceramics) offered jointly by RMIT University Australia and Hong Kong Art School, with an objective to understand the “Contemporary “ art world, and its relationship with “Traditional” arts. My earlier works inherited the beauty of traditional Chinese ceramic sculpture arts. My recent works, however, include content which reflects the phenomenon of people in modern world. The medium I am employing will not limit to ceramics, but with glass as well. I utilize them according to which one can bring out the most content of my artwork. Clay or glass is just one of many materials I will use to express the idea in my works.
