BOON, Simone

Simone Boon, Dutch born, is a fine art photographer and sculptural ceramic artist. She attained a Master of Fine Arts from the RMIT, a Bachelor Photography (2010) and Bachelor Ceramics with Honors (2008) from the RMIT, Campus Hong Kong. She received the HK Contemporary Award in 2013, was awarded with Member of the Golden Key, International Honor Society RMIT, 2006, and Prize V.R.I.K.A. Year Award, 1994 Antwerp.

From young age Simone experienced life in different cultures.  This was of crucial influence in her art. Themes she chose for her work are Inner paradigms of perception, Layers of Life, and Identity from a female perspective. In her work she combines an intellectual exploration of philosophies with an intuitive shaping of materials. 

Simone Boon is currently represented by Otomys Gallery (Melbourne, Sydney and UK) and by De Galerie Den Haag in the Netherlands.  She alternates working in her studio in Amsterdam, part of Art City NDSM, with working in her Fotan Studio in Hong Kong.
