From May 8 to July 31, Rossi & Rossi will convert its Wong Chuk Hang space for the residency of local artist Szelit Cheung, whose recent works study the interrelationship of light, form, and architecture. He will be creating a series of works as a response to the gallery space not only as a place to present art but also as a container of possibilities for idealised space.

Szelit Cheung is a Hong Kong-based artist, he engages in a cross-disciplinary practice including painting, drawings and photography. His current practice resembles the essence of void, exploring the connection between presence and emptiness by utilising simple forms, light and colours as a means to echo and amplify the intangible yet powerful feelings and expressions.

MICAS Maramureș International Ceramic Art Symposium

MICAS Maramureș International Ceramic Art Symposium.png

MICAS 2018

Micas 2018

The Micas project takes birth at the initiative of the Knot Association, in collaboration with the Faimar Baia Mare, from the awareness that to innovate the language of ceramics must be intercepted the still invisible insurgence of this medium, they are the key

The Knot Association has the pleasure of announcing the exhibition of the group of artists invited to the first edition micas that will take place in the outer space of the village museum in baia mare on may

The event brings together artists already established and artists artists, masters ceramiști but also artists incorporating ceramics in a wider artistic practice, often in surprising and inventive ways. If some have chosen a continuity with their previous work and work in their own workshop, others have left themselves with meetings and exchanges of ideas during the 10 days of work in the factory factory.
Exposed Works presents distinct ways to approach ceramics. Starting from some forms and materials associated with this artistic environment, they play or move away from formal and technical precedents. Often and from collaboration between artists, works reveal the multitude of formal and conceptual possibilities of ceramics and the broader constructive processes that can take life.

The Mysterious Architectures Of Juditei Christmas (1946, Romania) joins the personal interpretation of the Latin name of the host City Baia Mare (rivulus dominarum) of Artist Gheorghe Christmas (1946, Romania) while Trevor Dyer's work (1954 , England) reflects its concerns for the art art of pottery. The Domino installation of 100 pieces of Ileana Horoba Danci (1983, Romania) ironically suggests the idea of the fragility and ephemeral of any system built by man, and in the work of Marta Jakobovitz (1944, Romania) we find Continuous, instinctive and spontaneous with matter and color. Ovidiu Leuce (1981, Romania) creates offbeat and poetic Collages from daily objects, Delia Maxim (1981, Romania) particles anonymous forms in lewd structures, ionela sandrina mihuleac (1968, Romania) inspires from The culture of the place or natal cucuteni, Nicoleta Muresan (1971, Romania) Approaches The Ceramic Support with the sensitivity of a painter, and the elegant and enigmatic pieces of pinar baklan önal (1986, Turkey) dialoging between them but also Valentins Petjko (1985, Latvia), artist who alternate the activity of ceramic ceramics. The character of yuliei repina (Russia) is blocked in the inertia of the struggle between matter and ascension, the shapes of the Elina Titanē (1978, Latvia) Stimulate the imagination of The Complex and seemingly fragile structures inspired by loofah, a typical plant of its country, originated in the oriental sensitivity of the artist Suzanne au ho lam (1977, Hong Kong) and the artist xohan viqueira Perez (1952, Spain) brings Exquisite Eugenics Pop (1945-2012) with a series of works inspired by the opera ceramistei Romanian.

Artist in Residence – Tracy Chun Man Lam.jpg

Tracy Chun Man Lam was born and lives in Hong Kong. Monotonous and intimated, detached and attached, Tracy’s multidisciplinary practice, incorporating drawing, photography, text, video, and assemblage, poetically responds to her tension and existential experience of everyday life.

Her use of materials is inspired by a wide range of mundane objects. Using accumulation and fragmentation as making methodologies, her labor-intensive works create a sensory experience for viewers to explore a psyche of alienation and boredom inherent in contemporary life. OUR 2017 RESIDENTS WRITE...

I just got some wonderful news and couldn't think of two better people to share my news with: the novel excerpt I read at Taleamor Park has been accepted for publication! Thank you again for believing in my work and for your kindness and support. SA, New York

I cannot thank you enough for having given me the gift of this artist haven in the woods. You have provided all the creature comforts plus your gentle kindness. I will be forever grateful. JCS, New York

You have created a place of magic and I have treasured my time with you. Thank you for your generosity, for sharing the beauty of your lives and for giving me this opportunity to write. ZF, Vermont

These were among the most productive weeks of my life. I’m so grateful for your kindness and generosity. Hope to see you again very soon. ELS, Virginia

I’ve had such a wonderful time here. I only wish my stay was longer! Thank you for everything. I’ve enjoyed our shared meals, tea time, and conversations so much. Thank you for sharing your home and property. It’s been a beautiful place to work and also to rest. LL, Indiana

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Indiana. I’ll remember sunlit afternoons on the patio reading and writing, morning yoga on the deck, taking in the cool air while wandering the cornfields. And also the beach and the great afternoon at the Art Institute. Many good memories and so much productive writing accomplished here. IK, California

First one in, last one out! I enjoyed my visit and will return rested. Thanks for all the wonderful meals and conversations. This month flew by and if there were no residents ahead of me, I think you would have had to kick me out. You two could not have picked a better name for this place. Visiting friends and family is exactly what it felt like. See you again soon. Thanks for everything! TLP, Louisiana

Thank you for an amazing trip—your generosity and kindness knows no bounds. I had a productive, lovely time here and will always remember this time fondly. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness. CJ, Georgia

I’ve never felt so attached to a place and it saddens me greatly to leave… This was my first residency abroad, but I doubt that any future experiences will be as enriching as this one. There was so much to discover here; native plants, weird bugs, herons, tall trees, trails, ponds, etc. Rural Indiana is wild and beautiful. You will definitely see me back here as it already feels like home. You two are beautiful human beings, so full of energy and stories to tell! I will treasure all of our dinners and interesting conversations about life, history, art, and love. I can’t thank you enough for everything. GL, Montreal

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to come to Taleamor Park. I will never forget the experiences—the cockleburs, the trench, the potlucks, the wonderful presentation day, and the bonfire afterward. It’s been lovely to have the chance to get to know your farm and you. I wish you all the best. MA, Oregon

I have found my time here both restorative and productive. I loved running the trails in the changing leaves, sawing down branches with Clifford in the afternoons, and playing the giant dictionary game. Thank you for opening your home and making it a place to create. I will remember the magical bonfire that wasn’t and the s’mores that were, but most of all the kindness. Don’t forget to be good. It can be radical. JS, Louisiana

Thank you very much for the wonderful time I spent at Taleamor Park. I was very inspired by the landscape, nature, and the creative atmosphere here. I also very much enjoyed our conversations. I was glad to have such charming and creative fellow residents. I wish you health and many new great seasons at Taleamor Park! KB, Kyiv
